Gentle Instrument Adjusting in Grand Rapids
Not everyone needs, or wants, a hands-on manual adjustment. At Davis Chiropractic Health & Wellness, P.A., we use gentle adjusting instruments to give precise, low-force adjustments that are comfortable for patients of all ages.

The Tools We Use
Arthrostim: Our most-used instrument. The Arthrostim delivers a series of rapid, light taps to a specific area of the spine or an extremity joint. The quick, gentle pulses help encourage motion in stiff joints and relax the surrounding muscles, with no twisting or “popping.”
Activator: A small, spring-loaded handheld instrument that delivers a single quick, gentle impulse to a precise spot. We keep one in every adjusting room so it’s always available when it’s the best fit.
Because both instruments are fast and controlled, your body doesn’t tense up against the adjustment, and most patients feel little more than a light tapping sensation.
Who Is It For?
Instrument adjusting is a great option for:
- Older adults, including those with osteoporosis, arthritis or joint stiffness
- Babies and young children who need extremely gentle care
- Patients who are nervous about traditional adjustments or don’t like the “cracking” sound
- Smaller or lighter-framed patients who do better with less force
- Anyone recovering from an injury or dealing with acute pain, where a softer approach is more comfortable
What to Expect
Your visit starts with a conversation about your health and a thorough exam. If instrument adjusting is a good fit for you, your chiropractor will have you relax on the table while they check your alignment and apply gentle adjustments to the areas that need it. There is no twisting, no forceful thrust and no downtime. Many patients find it relaxing.
We tailor every adjustment to you. Some patients prefer instrument adjusting at every visit, while others like a combination of instrument and hands-on adjusting. Just let us know what makes you most comfortable.
