What Acupuncture Can Do for Your Feet

Acupuncture footIt’s summer! Time to go barefoot, take off your socks and shoes, roll up your pant legs and dip your feet into the cool water! This feels delicious, and it’s just what my daughter and I did last weekend on her first visit to us in Minnesota. But if your feet are swollen at the toes or ankles, or you suffer from gout in your toe, achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, Morton’s Neuroma, peripheral neuropathy, or feel your balance isn’t as stable as it used to be, you probably don’t feel comfortable or safe enough to go barefoot on uneven or pebbly surfaces. Acupuncture is well-equipped to address all of these foot and ankle pains and disharmonies.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the toes are where the polarity of the energy circulating in the leg meridians changes from yang to yin. No less than 6 meridians, carrying the qi of your body travel up and down through your feet! There are many acupuncture points on the toes, feet and ankles which invigorate the qi and blood, and rebalance the energy flow to relieve pain, increase blood circulation and sensation, and to relieve swelling and inflammation.

Our feet support our body weight and provide our most frequent contact with the ground. They must be strong to provide stable support, and to withstand the considerable stress of repeatedly striking the ground. They must be flexible so they can respond to changes in terrain and adjust our balance as we move over irregular surfaces on the ground.

You don’t want to avoid activity any longer because of foot pain! C’mon in for some acupuncture and give your feet some summer love!

I'm going to Cyprus on 25th September to visit my daughters. I have 2 Meningiomas which have been treated with radiotherapy. Unfortunately I have weakness in my left hand and a swollen left ankle as a result of side effects from the treatment and drugs I'm taking. I'm a little worried about my swollen ankle as they always swell up during the flight. And although I have requested special assistance just wondering if Acupuncture could help?
